Name: Skye Weight: 145kgs Length: 1000mm Width: 800mm Height: 300mm Drive: 2x 330mm diameter Titanium wheels, each of which has a polyurethane rubber tyre. These are driven by 2x LEM-130 LMC motors, which are run at 36.3v from 3x A123 M1 Lithium Ion battery packs. Turning Circle: 0mm Speed: 15mph Ground Clearance: 0mm under the front wedge and variable leading up to 15mm at the rear. Armour: The flipper is constructed of a 3mm wall thickness Titanium box section frame, with 6mm thick Titanium/10% Vanadium alloy panels welded to it. The rear section of the robot is made up of an 8mm thick Titanium/10% Vanadium alloy monocoque. Weapons: The whole wedge shaped part of the robot acts as a rear-hinged flipper, similar to that of Robot Wars competitor Wheely Big Cheese. This is operated by a 100mm bore pneumatic cylinder fed with CO², which is stored in 2x 2.2kg canisters at a pressure of 300psi. This set-up produces over 1500kgs of force at the ram, which should comfortably lift robots of this weight class a few feet in the air. Self-Righter: Skye is invertible, but the flipper can also right itself from any position. Notes: Thank you to Joey for his advice. Strengths: Very powerful flipper and drive combination. Weaknesses: Significantly less effective above cloud level.
