Hak-in-the-Saddle
Name origin - An excellent song by Aerosmith
Weight - 98.1kg
Dimensions - (without weapons) H-37.5cm L-75cm W-75cm
Shape - Square based truncated pyramid
Speed - 16.4mph or 7.3m/s
Turning Circle - 0
Ground Clearance - 0mm at front, going up to around 6mm at the rear.
Armour - The sides are made from 6.5mm titanium. The lid is made from 5mm titanium and the base is made from 6mm aluminium.
Locomotion - 4 x 80mm custom plastic wheels with conveyor belt fashioned treads.
Batteries - 5 x 24V NiMh 5.0ah Battlepacks.
Motors - 4 x Dewalt Hammerdrill 24v motors producing a peak of 8Hp. This provides us with good shove, but fairly slow acceleration and not that much torque, however the shape and the weapons synergy should make up for this. It also provides us with a massive top speed. We have had to gear this at 25:1 just to get the top speed down to the 16.4mph it is.
Weaponry -This robot is unique in that it has not 1, not 2, but 3 axes. The main one is a 70cm long shaft axe with a double sided, pointed bullet shaped axe head that swings all the way over the top of the robot. It's run off a low pressure CO2 100mm bore ram, at 140psi (same as Terrorhurtz) providing us with more than enough strikes. The other 2 axes (which are identical in their make-up to the top one) have their pivots halfway down each side of the robot, ala Splinter. These are run the same way, and are designed to pivot through 180 degrees, enabling us to grapple other robots at the front or back of the machine.
Srimech - The weapons
Strengths - Weapons synergy
Weaknesses - Slow to reach top speed
Theme tune - Aerosmith - Back in the Saddle
Chassis - 10kg
Armour - 30.2kg
Wheels - 8kg
Batteries - 7kg
Motors - 2.9kg
Weapons - 16kg
Weapon Power - 14kg
Other Bits - 10kg
