Pyramid of Pain
Version 2.0
Here is the latest version of the Pyramid of Pain arena I use for AJWars tournaments. It has changed a bit since Version 1.0. The outer pyramid has been redesigned, the arena is now larger and some of the hazards have been removed or replaced.
The outer screen has be re-designed and is now made of 20mm thick Polycarbonate. Due to it sloping inwards towards the arena, it makes life difficult for powerful flippers hoping to score a quick victory by flipping an opponent over the walls.
The arena itself has increased in size and is now 20 metres x 20 metres. The arena floor is made of 10mm thick Hardox and difficult to damage. The arena walls are also made of 10mm Hardox, with 10mm thick Polycarbonate panels sloted inside. The walls are much taller now with a height of 1 metre, providing a challenge to anyone hoping to throw an opponent over them.
You can stop laughing at my flames now! ;D Here you can see the classic flame grid. The inferno is not to be underestimated, as it is powered by a resident Charizard. The grid itself can be tricky to escape. You can also see the pit release target on the arena wall. Drive into that, and the pit of oblivion will descend...
But until someone hits the target, the pit will remain closed, as above.
Once the pit is open, watch out! If you fall into there, it signals the end of the match.
This is a new hazard, one of two pneumatic spikes. They work very much like those that were found in the Robot Wars Series 3 arena. Once a robot goes over them, the spike quickly fires upwards, which can either flip or cause damage. These are much faster and much more powerful than the Robot Wars spikes.
I hope you have fun in it!
