Name: Code_14 Shape: A flat cylindrical body Motivation: The robot uses four shuffling feet driven by camshaft mechanism, at the bottom of each as a 10mm thick rubber grip also used as a shock absorber Weight: Approximately 150kg Length: 900mm Width: 900mm Height: 150mm Turning Circle: It basically turns on the spot using the shuffling feet, but it prefers to turn by stopping one side and driving the other causing it to rotate in an arc Ground Clearance: There is around 20mm Ground Clearance under the spinning body to give it room to bounce about a bit once hitting Weapon: The whole outer body spins, to it’s a true full body spinner like Typhoon rather than a ring spinner like Gyrobot. Attached to the outer body are one of two weapons: (The outer body is driven by two B42-500 Magmotors on 60v) 1) Two teeth that are made of sharpened tungsten attached about 50mm up the body designed to slice into nearly anything 2) Two 150mm long blades again made of tungsten that sticks out from the body. These are used for fighting other full body spinners; hopefully my teeth will be longer and hit them before they hit me SRIMECH: The robot itself doesn’t have a SRIMECH, but you have to get past the gyroscopic forces to so first Drive: Driving the shuffling feet are a C40-500 Magmotor either side driven on 36v giving it approximately 12hp but not like its going to be pushing things about, the motors are driven by NiCAD packs (36v) Armour: The inner chassis is made of 3mm thick Aircraft Grade Aluminium drilled to reduce the weight. The outer spinning body is made of 10mm thick Grade 5 Titanium with a layer of 3mm thick Lexan on the top Notes: Basically a shuffling full body spinner with huge damage potential with a fair bit of power. The impacts are absorbed by the 10mm thick rubber feet and 20mm thick rubber in the internals to absorb impacts.

Psyclone
Shape: A low to the ground cylindrical shape with a slightly domed top. Dimensions: 900mm x 900mm x 150mm (Length x Width x Height) Speed: The robot can reach a top speed of about 12mph. Turning Circle: Psyclone can turn on the spot using a Tornado style skid steer system. Ground Clearance: The spinning shell sits about 10mm off the ground. Armour: The outer shell is made of 3.25mm thick Hardox that shouldn’t be damaged very easily. The baseplate is made of 5mm thick Polycarbonate but it’s unlikely a robot will manage to flip Psyclone over and then damage the base. Motivation: The robot runs on four Vullkolan treaded wheels that should mean the robot is unlikely to be flung away after an attack but the opponent is. These are driven by two S28-150 Magmotors run on 24v from a 24v 3300mAh NiMH pack giving around 6hp, but the robot isn’t designed to do any pushing just running around and into other robots. Weapons: The whole outer shell spins around, it is powered by a B42-500 Magmotor on 60v geared to 5:1 with an almost instant spin up time. The shell weighs approximately 50kg and has two Hardox teeth fixed to the sides about 15mm off the ground ready to destroy anything! SRIMECH: A bar is hinged on the top of the robot and a linear actuator can self-right Psyclone in under two seconds. Strengths: Huge destructive powers, fast and maneuverable, good armouring. Weaknesses: Weak baseplate, slow self-righter.

Psyclonic
Shape: Flat cylindrical shape with a ring around the circumference Dimensions: 900mm x 150mm (Inner Robot) 1000mm x 150mm (With Ring) Motivation: Four custom Aluminum hubs with a layer of vulk bonded round the edge. Drive: Two LEM130 Lynch Motors running at 36v from a NiCad BattlePack. Speed: Can reach a top speed of around 15mph. Turning Circle: The skid steering method allows it to turn on the spot. Ground Clearance: 10mm under the ring and main body. Armour: Only top and bottom armour is needed, both panels are made of 3.25mm thick Hardox WarePlate. Weapons: The weapon is a 100mm thick ring made of 5mm thick Hardox. It is spun around the body by a big B42-500 Magmotor run at 60v, producing around 32hp. It is geared to 5:1 to give almost instant spin up times and great top speeds. The shell also has three Hardox teeth, which can rip robots up in seconds. With the speed, maneuverability and power added to the destructive ability this is something you do not want to mess with. Self-Righting Mechanism: The robot can also work upside down. Notes: After self-righting difficulties with the previous two bots, Psyclonic is now invertible. All parts inside are shock mounted so that attacks do not shake itself out.

Name: Psyclonised Shape: Horizontal cylinder with a ring around the circumference Colour: Black with red hammers and a red arrow on top so I can tell which way is forwards when driving around. Picture: Dimensions: 800mm x 150mm [Main Body] 1000mm x 150mm [With Hammers] Weight: 100kgs Motivation: Four CNC Aluminium wheels with holes for weight reducing. There are two choices of tyre that can be used on the edge of these wheels. The first choice are bonded with Vulkalon rubber for superb grip on metal surfaces. The second choice are made with standard rubber with small screws poking out for extra grip on wooden surfaces. Power: Two LEM130’s at 24v with NiCads. Speed: Around 15mph so it can get into attacks quickly and run away to spin up. Turning Circle: 0m using tank style steering. Ground Clearance: 15mm all the way round so any shrapnel caused can be driven over if needed. Armour: 3.25mm Hardox on the top and bottom. Weapon: Psyclonised has an original variation on the usual ring spinner; this ring spinner is merged with a Son of Whyachi style cage, only invertible so all the self-righting problems are eliminated. The outer ring is made of 8mm thick Hardox 400. Sticking out from this ring are three Hardox bars, each supported to each other by a horizontal bar. This may also work as an effective anti-crusher system. On the edge of the bars are big blocks of Hardox forming hammers that can be hurled into the opposition causing huge dents and mainly giving them a good shaking around inside. To avoid the effect on itself, Psyclonised has all its components strapped down and shock mounted. If you are confused, take a look at the picture above. The ring is spun round using an LEM200 motor at 48v which can really give out some big hits at full speed. SRIMECH: Invertible, and because of the shape it can only really land on the top or bottom if flipped. Notes: A weapon system me and Martyn came up with together. Strengths: Quite difficult to attack and fairly destructive weapon system.

Name: PsycloniZer Shape: Cylindrical with an outer ring like Gyrobot, with three hammers protruding from the ring. Diameter: 700mm (900mm with hammers) Height: 175mm Weight: 100kgs Drive: 2x S28-400 Magmotors run at 24v from 3600mAh NiCad battery packs, which gives about 9hp in the drive. This runs four Aluminium wheels with a Vulkolan tread for grip. Turning Circle: 0mm using a four-wheel drive skid steer system. Speed: 15mph Ground Clearance: 10mm all the way round. Armour: 8mm thick Hardox for the rim and 3.25mm Hardox for the top and bottom armour. The hammers are also constructed out of Hardox. Weapon: A ~35kg spinning ring, like that on Gyrobot with three hammers extending horizontally outwards, supported to each other with a framework. The ring is powered by an LEM200 motor run at 48v and spins at 2500rpm. The ring should be capable of getting up to full speed in less than 3 seconds. This slams huge 80mm3 sharpened lumps of Hardox into the opponents at a force of around 108kJ. Self-righting mechanism: Psycloniser is invertible. Notes: The framework supporting the hammers can also work as an anti-axe or crusher device. Internal components are shock mounted using urethane rubber to protect against its own hits.

Name: Psychosis Weight: 100kgs Diameter: 700mm [each hammer reaches out an extra 500mm from this] Height: 150mm Drive: 4x 170mm diameter Aluminium wheels, each of which has a urethane rubber tyre. These are driven by belt by 2x A28-400 Ampflow motors, which are run at 26.4v from 5x 8-Cell A123 M1 Lithium Ion battery packs. Turning Circle: 0mm Speed: 15mph Ground Clearance: 10mm under the main body and 25mm under the hammers. Armour: The top and base are made from a 6mm thick Titanium and 10% Vanadium alloy. The spinning rim is made of 20mm thick Ti/V, while the bars and all supporting structures are made of 5mm thick, 50mm diameter tubes of the same alloy. The hammers are also constructed from a 5mm wall thickness of Titanium and Vanadium. Weapon: The main weapon is a spinning rim, similar to that of the Robot Wars 7 competitor Gyrobot. Extending horizontally from this spinning rim are three 500mm long bars, each of which has a 2kg hammer at the end. The bars are supported to each other using a triangular frame. The spinning rim rotates through 360° and slams the hammers into opposing robots at a top speed of 2500rpm. This is achieved using two A28-400 Ampflow motors at 26.4v. By using two motors to drive the spinning rim, Psychosis can get up to full speed very quickly at the start of a battle and after attacks. Due to the complexity of the weapon, accurate measurements for spin-up time and kinetic energy output are difficult to determine, but it is estimated that the spinning rim can reach 2500rpm in less than 5 seconds, at which point it can unleash approximately 75kJ of energy. Self-Righter: Psychosis is invertible, and the hammers and supporting framework means that it is extremely difficult for it to land on anything but its wheels. Notes: All internal components are shock-mounted and padded with urethane rubber to ensure that Psychosis can survive the huge amounts of kinetic energy it deals out. The supporting framework for the hammers also acts as a protective barrier to make it difficult for other robots to attack the main body of Psychosis. Thanks to Kody for the CAD and to Joey for his help.
